The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change confirmed Scottish Government approval of the Regional Transport Strategy (RTS) on 24th June 2008. The RTS now has the statutory status provided for in the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005.
The Strategy was re-submitted to Ministers in early May 2008, in response to their request that all Regional Transport Partnerships review the Strategies they originally submitted in March 2007, to align these with Government’s new strategic objectives. In addition specified projects and interventions contained in the previously submitted Strategies are now to be contained in separate RTS Delivery Plans.
The TACTRAN Partnership Board approved a revised version of the RTS on 29th April 2008. This addressed the review requested by Ministers and also included some updating to take account of circumstances which have changed since original submission in March 2007.
The core strategy and associated Vision and Objectives, as developed and informed by wide-ranging stakeholder and public consultation during 2006/07, remain unchanged. The Strategy, as approved by Ministers, can be viewed here.
The approved Strategy is currently in the process of final editing for publication and will be available for viewing and downloading from the website and for purchase in September.
Work is now continuing on the development of the RTS Delivery Plan, which will map out the key delivery priorities and programme over the next 10 – 15 years. Progress on this will be the subject of consultation with key stakeholders.
